HOW MEPORE WORKS:
The porous structure of the Sontara® nonwoven fabric ensures air and water vapour permeability. The fabric is flexible, conforms well to body contours, and allows body movements when in place.
The fabric is non-absorbent and provides a barrier for blood and fluid strike-through. The polyacrylate adhesive has been designed to be gentle to the skin and at the same time provide secure fixation.
The wound pad can absorb moderate amounts of wound fluids and the low-adherent wound contact layer reduces the risk of adherence to the wound. The easy-to-remove protection paper permits sterile application, as well as simplifying dressing application.
AREAS OF USE
Mepore can be used in a wide variety of wounds which have low to moderate exudate levels. These include surgical wounds, minor burns, cuts, and abrasions.
BENEFITS OF MEPORE

Instructions for use
Adhesive surgical dressing
Product description
The Mepore wound pad is made of a viscose nonwoven coated with a polymer layer to give a smooth surface and render it low adherent. The polyester backing makes the product permeable and highly flexible, allowing it to conform well to body contours. The dressing is protected by two pieces of overlapping release paper which are easy to remove and allow for aseptic application.
Mode of action
The adhesive border of Mepore seals the area surrounding the wound in order to avoid external contamination. Mepore is water repellant and provides physical protection to the wound.
Intended use
Self-adhesive sterile absorbent dressing intended for treating low to moderately exuding wounds, such as surgical wounds, cuts and abrasions.
Instruction for use
Application:
1. Open package. Remove dressing.
2. Grip both overlapping release papers, exposing adhesive surface allowing initial fixation of the dressing. Position the dressing on the skin without stretching and gently remove the rest of the release papers.
3. Firmly smooth adhesive border to the skin.
4. Do not stretch the dressing when applying.
5. The frequency of dressing changes will be governed by the condition of the underlying wound.
6. Upon removal grasp the edge and slowly peel the dressing from the skin in the direction of hair growth.
Frequency of change
The frequency of dressing changes should be governed by the condition of the wound in accordance with accepted clinical practice
Precautions
Care should be taken to ensure that Mepore is not applied under tension, to prevent shearing forces causing damage to the skin. This is particularly important when the dressing is applied over joints.
Mepore should not be applied to patients who are known to be sensitive to acrylic adhesives or to individuals who have very fragile or easily damaged skin. Sterility is guaranteed unless inner package is damaged or opened prior to use.
